24/02/2009 - Scooter will raise vital funds
JCC’s official charity for 2009 – Brake – is set to receive a boost after JCC was presented with a Pulse 49cc scooter by Farécla Products Ltd.
The scooter will now be raffled off to raise funds for Brake, the road safety charity that runs national campaigns to encourage people to be careful and more considerate drivers. The scooter was won by JCC following a ‘bottle neck promotion’ on Farécla’s automotive finishing products, which are used at a number of JCC’s sites. The competition ran in several regions and there were a number of prizes up for grabs.
David Bingham, Regional Sales Manager for Farécla, said: “JCC’s entry was drawn out and we were delighted to be able to offer them the prize of the Pulse scooter. We were very pleased to hear that the company has decided to use the scooter to raise money for charity.”
Barry Whittles, JCC’s chief executive, added: “The initiative of some of our staff helped us win the prize and we thought it was extremely fitting to be able to donate the scooter to raising funds for such a worthy cause. We would like to thank Farécla for their generosity and coming up with such a great prize and I am sure that it will help us to raise a lot of money for a cause that is close to the hearts of all those that work in the collision repair industry.”
Brake supports the families of those involved in crashes and also run education and awareness campaigns, including encouraging the government to introduce tougher driving tests to raise the standard of drivers and trying to increase the number of traffic police and enforcement measures to make roads safer.
The charity runs the Forgotten Victims campaign, campaigning for more government support for those bereaved and injured in road crashes and its campaigns have included National Road Safety Week, the 2Young2Die campaign, educating young people, nationwide, about driving safely, and education programmes with parents and young children. As well as the opportunity to win the scooter, JCC has placed collection boxes in every branch to encourage customers to make donations to the charity.
In addition to this, they are planning three fundraising events for staff, customers and suppliers this year which will include a charity golf day, a sponsored go-karting event, a parachute jump and a charity football tournament. Farécla, which was established in 1953, supplies the Automotive Refinish Trade with worldclass surface finishing solutions, with the aim of providing exceptional results to bodyshops and distributors.
