20/12/2008 - Chief Executive of Just Car Clinics takes on None Exec Director role within flourishing business

A highly-experienced chief executive from the collision repair industry has been appointed as a non executive director of another rapidly expanding business this week. 

Barry Whittles, chief executive of Just Car Clinics collision repair chain which has with 23 sites nationwide, has joined the board of Garland Total Vehicle Solutions and PDI centre based at Carnaby. Garland Total Vehicle Solutions specialises in the refurbishment of ex-rental and lease vehicles in the business to business market currently processing over 10,000 cars a year.

Mr Whittles will bring 10 years’ director experience to the board as well as his industry expertise to the best advantage of the company in terms of taking it to the next level. “I am delighted to be joining the board of such a well-established business, which is complementary to the industry I already work in,” he said. 

“Within this new role, I will be focusing on developing Garland Total Vehicle Solutions by bringing my experience to the table in terms of working in a similar line of work, whilst continuing to place emphasis on my role as Chief Executive of Just Car Clinics.” 

Just Car Clinics has undergone a significant period of growth since its inception in 2003 following a £5m management buyout of the former Dixon Car Clinics chain. Hull-born Mr Whittles, who started life as a trainee panel beater himself, has always remained focused on his strategy to grow the business from day one and has only opened new sites as and when the business and its staff were ready – his successful business philosophies are hoped to be well used in Garland Total Vehicle Solutions too.
