29/11/2008 - Just Car Clinics puts training first

The team at Just Car Clinics (JCC) in Ilkeston is pleased to announce that another four members of its team – Paul Todd, Matt Johnson, Ben Watson and John Schumann – have completed their welding training at the group’s state-of-the-art training and development centre in Goole.The one day course is run in conjunction with Car-O-Liner, JCC’s welding equipment supplier, and RPM Welding, a BSI accredited welding assessor and trainer.

During the day candidates cover a number of elements and is aimed at all panel technicians.  The first half of the course is dedicated to theory with candidates learning about health and safety, high strength steel and an update on modern vehicle construction methods. A certificate of competence is then awarded upon the completion of a written test. 

Ben Watson said: “The theory section of the course was really useful, it’s really important for us to know about the health and safety aspects of the job and it was a great opportunity to ensure that we were up to date on all of the modern construction methods.” The second half of the day is a practical training session. The teams are assessed on the correct use and care of welding equipment and Mig brazing training and testing.

Candidates then complete BS1140 Resistance spot welding competence certificate and BS4872 MIG Welding competence certificate. 

Terry Mullen, general manager at JCC in Ilkeston, said: “We’re very pleased that another four members of the team have completed their welding training. Everyone at Just Car Clinic is dedicated to the training and development of the team.”
