01/10/2007 - Change of fortune Just Car Clinic Grimsby

The Grimsby branch of leading body repair company Just Car Clinics (JCC) is currently celebrating a great turn around in fortune after appointing a new general manager just a year ago. Steve Story, general manager of the Grimsby site, was appointed in August 2006 and has overseen an upturn in business which has seen the branch’s turnover at the end of July increase by £300,000 from £1.2m in 2006 to £1.5m this year. This success is made all the more incredible by the fact that up until last year, Steve had no experience in the body repair industry. Prior to joining the company, Steve was the operations manager of the now forlorn Dixon Motors Wash Shop division where he worked for seventeen years. During this time he refined his customer service skills and gained a wealth of man management experience which has been invaluable. Coming from a background other than that of body repair meant that he had to spend his first three months with JCC based at the Hull branch on an intensive induction course in order to fully get to grips with every aspect of the business. That baptism of fire has obviously paid off though as Grimsby has now set itself the goal of becoming the company’s most successful branch, a target which this time last year would have been totally unrealistic when they were actually losing money. Customer service levels have also increased under Steve’s stewardship, with the branch achieving 100% in the past year in Norwich Union’s annual measurement of service in the body repair industry, a great achievement compared to last years score of 85.7%. Steve, however, is quick to point out that he is not solely responsible for the renaissance taking place at JCC Grimsby, he said: “There is a huge emphasis on team work at JCC, everyone has had a huge part to play in the success we have experienced in the last 12 months and they equally have a huge role to play in what we are determined will be a bright future for us here in Grimsby. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who have allowed us to have such a great year to date.”
