Dave beats his way to the top A manager at the Grantham branch of leading body repair company, Just Car Clinics (JCC) has proved that dedication and commitment can take you all the way to the top in your chosen profession. Dave Hornsey joined JCC as a panel beater in 2001 working in the Lincoln branch but has recently been appointed as general manager of the Grantham site after taking advantage of the excellent career prospects which initially attracted him to the company. Today (September 17) sees Dave celebrating his 6th year anniversary with the company. After spending three years as a panel beater, Dave became a workshop controller before taking up the assistant manager’s role at the company’s Lincoln branch. He then spent a further three years in this position, a time in which he learned the ins and outs of management and gained the confidence and skills which have lead to him becoming the manager of his very own branch here in Grantham. A constant need to improve and better himself has seen Dave take the natural skills he has and mould himself into management material. His self-motivation has led him to complete a night course in computing in order to improve his IT skills in the work place. He has also worked incredibly hard to improve his people skills, an essential string to any manager’s bow. Dave is forever pushing himself to new heights, literally on some occasions! He recently conquered his fear of heights to parachute out of a plane and his next big adventure will be hot air ballooning. Dave’s impact has been almost instantaneous with the branch currently operating at a profit after a period when it was only losing money. However he is quick to point out that his personal success and that of the branch are reliant on a great number of people. Dave said: “I owe my success to everyone who I have worked with at JCC over the years, the managers that have given me the opportunities to develop my career and also the colleagues from who I have learned so much. JCC is like one big family and I would like to think my achievements are a reflection on everyone who has supported me. The future for the company is looking very bright and I am proud to be able to play a big part in it.”
